Friction in all the right… PLACES: Scoops!

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

scoops.jpgBaskin Robbin’s 31 flavors – eat your heart out! Literally. Friction entertainment is officially riding the ice cream wave, and the first stop is the icy haven conveniently located in the middle of the Wilshire Center. With wonders of flavors, many of which sell out, it’s no surprise Scoops is the choice destination for some gnarly kindergarten-food-gone-wrong frozen madness. Hit all the major food groups with red bull and mango, almond horchata, brown bread, coffee peanut butter, and bacon ice cream treats - but be sure to leave room for some Goat Cheese Basil, Rosemary Creme Fraiche & Chocolate Orange flavors (as pictured). Delicioso!

Acclaimed as noodle paradise, even for non-ramen lovers, Daikokuya requires only a few spare bucks and a 30 minute wait. But it’s a small price to pay for savory Japanese-style pork bone soup. Complete with firm noodles, a marinated egg, and Berkshire pork belly chashu – you can’t beat that with a stick! Ramen ME!

Get your Vitamins at the Apple Pan

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

l.jpgIf a fatty Hickory burger seems to be your New Year’s fix, hit the Apple Pan for some mind-altering substances. With burgers that are acclaimed to be the “Best in the world”, or often less dramatically, just “Best in LA”, there seems to be something quite magical about the burger + fries + pies goodness. Hailing in LA since the late-1940’s, Apple Pan is your OG hamburger hotspot, equipped with greasy greatness and long lines worthy of a guestlist just like everything else around town. I can’t think of a better way to enjoy the 40’s than Apple Pan’s truly titillating taste!
