Friction in all the right… PLACES: Diddy Riese

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

diddy.jpgDespite the visuals, there’s really not much to bite out of our Grand Opening Party at SUGAR this Saturday. For some uber sweet sensations, head straight to the Westside for some ultra cheap and equally delish Diddy Riese cookies, slash cookie sandwiches. Referred to as a “mouthgasm”, choose your two cookies and ice cream filling for your very own personal ice cream sandwich! It’s about a buck fifty and some cell to your thighs, but you can’t put a price on absolute cookie loooooovvvee.

Friction in all the right… PLACES: Katsuya!

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

katsuya.jpgCruise down Hollywood boulevard and scope LA’s newest addition. Katsuya is officially up and ready for business, and it’s got a lot more to offer than pretentious sushi. Amidst the silver and white décor, you’ll find gallery-worthy valuables to googley eye, such as clear acrylic displays and enormous shiny red lips. Oh yeah, and the food. Sink your teeth into some miso-marinated lamb chops, kiwi-flavored scallops, garlic rubbed seared tuna, and creamy rock shrimp tempura – Yowsa!

Friction in all the right… PLACES: Crumbs Cupcakes!

Monday, February 11th, 2008

crumbs.jpgMove over Sprinkle’s lovers, we’ve found our new guilty obsession… on crack. If only I could take credit for such sinfully sweet creations like Fluffernutter-marshmellow and Peanut Butter, or perhaps Oreo Raspberry Swirl – aka real cupcakes that ooze obscene richness! You called it, Crumbs has shifted coasts to Beverly Hills and they’re even cheaper than ever before (in Crumbs history). With late night hours (the shop is open until 10pm on the weekdays, 11pm on the weekends), it won’t be hard to score a batch of sweets for your Valentine “sweet”.

Friction in all the right… PLACES: Holy, Ninja! Ninjas!!

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

ninja.jpgIt’ll be a real hoot to step into this Tribeca-located Japanese hotspot for some sushi, sake, and ninjas. Yes, I said ninjas. Because they only have those bad boys running around like Mayhem level 3 of Lemmings! Hit this tourist trap for some frill-filled fun with pan fried lamb, spicy cheese tempura, bonsai tiramisu, and living/breathing ninja waiters that pride themselves on scaring the sh*% out of you during your stay. The matching décor screams Feudal Japan, and so will you when ninjas bust out the acrobats into your loosely protected comfort zone.

Friday, February 1st, 2008

portos.jpgKissing ass to your Valentine can really lead to some suck face. Choice recommendation? Porto’s family-owned and operated bakery. Choose from Mango cheesecake, potato balls, guava cheese rolls, éclairs, and more – all deemed overtly delicious! If you’re stopping by, be ready for swarms of salivating groupies. This place also offers lunch to boot!
